WHAT CAN BE DONE TO ENHANCE THE PRESENT MOMENT?

In Zen, there is a phrase, “Everything is perfect and there is always room for improvement.” While that might seem like a contradiction, I like to think of it as an invitation to be mindful and ready to notice, well, everything.
What can we use as a mindfulness anchor? Well, since we each have a body that is here…all the time, we can start with that. What can we do to use our bodies to be more present and anchored? We can sense it, feel the breeze, the heat, the cold, our feet on the ground. We can notice what is simply happening around us, and the emotional states we’re in, and use that awareness to intensify our experience of just being present. Even something as simple as being aware of life as it is can enhance the experience of it.
